Raised with Nest: Parent Webinars & Workshop in September

Webinar 1 | Birth To Three: The Only Window Where A Second (or Third) Language Becomes Native

Your toddler hears one language dominate the day. The other language shows up occasionally, weekends, one caregiver, inconsistent. You tell yourself there’s time. Preschool will handle it.

Birth to three, child in unconscious absorbent mind. Doesn’t learn language, absorbs it, no effort, no instruction, no translation. Any language heard consistently during this window becomes native. Brain distinguishes all language phonemes at birth, narrows to only languages heard by age one, largely set by three.

This is the sensitive period for language. Not a phase to work toward later. A biological window open right now, closing on schedule regardless of when you start.

In this session, learn what unconscious absorption actually requires, why passive exposure isn’t enough, and what’s quietly working against a second language in a typical Singapore household, helper dynamics, grandparent distance, one language defaulting to convenience.

Best for: parents of children under three raising, or considering raising, a bilingual child. Understand what’s happening now and what’s at stake before the window narrows.

Webinar 2 | Three To Six: From Absorbing Language To Building It

At three, everything shifts. Child moves from unconscious absorbent mind to conscious absorbent mind. No longer absorbs automatically. Now learns deliberately, with interest, with effort, with instruction.

This isn’t bad news. It’s a different kind of language window. Child who absorbed a second language unconsciously before three now ready to build real literacy on top of it, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing. Child who didn’t get much exposure before three can still build genuine competence now, just through conscious learning rather than absorption.

Learn what conscious language learning actually looks like at this age, how to build vocabulary and early literacy whether your child arrives at three fluent or starting fresh, and how to keep a second language motivating rather than another task layered onto an already full day.

Best for: parents of children three to six, want clear plan for building fluency and literacy in this stage regardless of what happened before three.

In-person | Three To Six: Language Games, Materials, And A Morning Inside A Bilingual Prepared Environment

Theory is one thing. Handling materials yourself, practicing games and creating materials before trying them at home, is different.

Step into a Montessori prepared environment set up for bilingual language development. Walk through language games and activities matched to different ages, birth to three absorption-based, three to six literacy-building. See how sound, vocabulary, and early reading materials are sequenced, and why sequence matters.

Learn how to create materials during the session, and how to use them with your child at home. Practice games and language routines through demonstration, so you leave knowing how to run them, not just what they are.

Best for: parents who attended one or both virtual sessions and want to see and practice it directly. Also open to parents joining fresh.
